Volunteering for LCYC Social Events Made Easy!

We need LCYC member volunteers to help with the Club’s social events. The Social Committee has implemented an easy to use volunteer software program called SignUpGenius to identify our volunteer needs and opportunities and enable members to easily signup to help. To volunteer for a specific event, go to the "Volunteer" tab on this website and click on the "Sign up to volunteer at a Social Event" button. This will take you to the SignUpGenius website to register your volunteer time.

Website tip: Events vs. Calendar

Events is a powerful way to look at the LCYC calendar, particularly if you are interested in events of a certain type such as Social, BOG meetings or Racing or Cruising events. Click on Events on the top menu bar and then click on various filters (e.g. Social, Racing, Cruising, Wednesday, E Series, etc.) to display those specific events. If you want to confirm your RC signup, this is where you can see all the PRO and RC assignments.

LCYC is a member of US Sailing's MVP Program

The MVP program provides LCYC members with discounted membership dues to US Sailing and, for every club member who joins (or renews an existing membership), LCYC gets cash credits which can be used to offset the cost of US Sailing training programs and other products and services. As the National Governing Body for the sport of sailing, US Sailing’s mission is to provide leadership for the sport of sailing in the United States. Particularly if you are a racing sailor, you should strongly consider being a member of US Sailing as they provide the underlying support for our sport (e.g. Racing Rules, National PHRF database, Race Management training, Sailing Instructor training, Safety at Sea seminars, etc.). Go to the link below and select Lake Champlain YC to join or renew on line and you will automatically get the $10 dues discount. Also, don't forget to sign up for your subscription Sailing World magazine as well.

Entry forms and Waivers need to be submitted prior to regatta.

The Word version of the Entry form can be downloaded, edited and returned via email.

The PDF version of the Entry form and the waiver (needs signatures) will need to be printed, filled out, scanned and returned via email or snail mail.

Ladies Cup History: The "Deed of Gift"

With the Ladies Cup coming up next weekend, Club Historian Bern Collins thought it would be a good time to share some important documents about the origin of the Cup from our archives. While there was no formal "Deed of Gift" for the Cup, what we do have is the minutes from the September 1, 1888 LCYC Executive Committee meeting in which the gift was accepted and the rules governing the competition for the Cup were set. We have posted copies of both the original handwritten minutes as well as a transcribed typed version that was done some years later.
